Matt Frawley will this weekend become the third player to make his NRL debut for the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs this season
The 22-year old follows Brad Abbey and Marcelo Montoya, who both made their debuts in Bulldogs colours against the New Zealand Warriors in Round three.
The Belconnen United junior will wear the number seven jersey on Thursday night, taking the place of Moses Mbye, who has been suspended for a week after a grade one shoulder charge during the Bulldogs loss to the Manly Sea Eagles last weekend.
“I’m really excited for Thursday and it’s a dream come true for me. It’s been something that I have been working towards for a long time,” said Frawley.
The latest debutant arrived at Belmore in 2015 from the Canberra Raiders and has been one of the most consistent performers in the club’s Intrust Super Premiership side over the past couple of seasons.
“I feel as though I am ready for the challenge. I’ve been 18th man for the last couple of weeks and I’ve been getting set for this opportunity. I feel as though my time is now,” added Frawley.
“Des wants me to play my natural game. I’m an organising half, and I will just try to kick to corners and play some footy down the left edge with Josh Morris and Greg Eastwood. I just need to keep it basic, not complicate anything and do the little things right.”
It’s State vs State when the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs host the Brisbane Broncos in their first home game at ANZ Stadium in 2017.
The Bulldogs will be hoping for a repeat of the result from last year when they ran out 40-14 winners in an upset win.
