Marcelo Montoya had a first grade debut to remember when he crossed for his first NRL try in the 66th minute during the Bulldogs win over the Warriors in Dunedin.

Trailing 12-10, the Bulldogs were on the attack inside the Warriors half, when a shift to the Bulldogs right saw Josh Morris get outside his opposite number and turn the ball back inside for Montoya to dive over and score his first NRL try.

Playing opposite veteran Warrior Manu Vatuvei for much of the match, Montoya overcame a heavy dose of pre-match nerves to answer almost every question thrown at him.

“It was very emotional. I got up and I saw Jacko (Josh Jackson) running towards me. I didn’t know what to do. It was a wonderful experience for myself,” Montoya said.

The Bulldogs opened their 2017 NRL Telstra Premiership account with a 24-12 victory over the Warriors on Friday night.
