Bulldogs Announce First ANZAC Jersey

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are proud to officially announce that in 2017 we will wear our first ever ANZAC jersey, as modelled by Brenko Lee and Adam Elliott.

The design of the jersey features cascading poppies which represent those who have fallen to protect us. The names of Bulldogs alumni who served in World War II are printed on the front of the jersey and the top of the jersey is embroidered with the first ever premiership match played by the club, which was on ANZAC day in 1935 against the North Sydney Bears at North Sydney Oval.

“Canterbury’s first ever game was played on ANZAC day, so the jersey ties in nice. I have a few mates that are in the forces and one of those guys is myself and Brett’s hero. I guess wearing the jersey will be a way to represent him and the past players who served. Seeing the Bulldogs player’s names on the jersey who have represented the club and their country, makes you proud to be a part of this special club. I love the jersey.” – Josh Morris.

The club will wear the ANZAC jersey in Round 8 against the West Tigers at ANZ Stadium. The jerseys worn from this match will be auctioned and you will get the chance to bid on a piece of history.

“It’s a very special day for Australia. To wear a jersey like this for guys who have played rugby league and fought for their country is very special. The jersey looks awesome.” – Josh Reynolds.

“It always a special day playing on or around ANZAC day. The jersey is great and to have the first ever premiership match that was played on ANZAC day at the top of the jersey, is special.  I’m sure our members and fans will love it.” – Brett Morris.

Our ANZAC jersey is available now in-store at the Bulldog Belmore (376 Burwood Road, Belmore 2192) and Online at the Bulldog Online.
