Read more quotes from Josh Jackson’s press conference at Sydney Airport before the side headed off for their Round Three clash with the Warriors in Dunedin.

on the start to the season…

It’s tough at the start of the year when you really want to get on the front foot and you don’t win those couple of games against the Storm and the Roosters. We have been in the contest and loss both games by a try. We are thereabouts, but we need to get the win this weekend.

on finding that first win…

Everyone is still positive. We had a really good pre-season and we have done the work. We know we are capable of finding the win, but it’s about putting the 80 minutes together and once we get that first win, I’m sure we will get the confidence to string a few together.

on Brad Abbey…

He’s a really silky player who gets around the field well. He deserves his opportunity. He’s put in the hard work and he has played some really good footy with the New South Wales Cup. I’m excited to see him play.

on Brett Morris playing on the wing…

I think B Moz (Brett Morris) plays so well for us on the wing and does a really good job there, so why move him from there.

on Marcelo Montoya…

He’s an energetic player Marcelo and he is one of those guys who has come up from the 20s in the pre-season and trained unbelievably well. He pretty much has forced Des to pick him.

on playing with two debutants…

It’s awesome. It’s an exciting time and I’m sure the two boys will bring plenty of energy.

on Des’ contract…

It would be good if it happened soon. He is pretty vital to the club and to what we have achieved in the past and I think moving forward as well. It would be good to see Des re-sign soon.
