The Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs have defeated the Melbourne Storm 28-24 in their final NRL Trial match before round one.

A nail-biting finish showed what we have to look forward to at Belmore in two weeks’ time after the Melbourne Storm scored three late consecutive tries to close the margin by four points.

The Bulldogs started the match with strong defence before forcing Melbourne Storm to make the first error with a knock on of the game.

Brenko Lee was explosive to start off the game, crossing over the try line for the Bulldogs with Kerrod Holland successfully converting.

The Bulldogs dominated in the first half with Josh Reynolds crossing after a terrific pass from Kerrod Holland to extend the Bulldogs lead three minutes later. Holland successfully converted again as the Bulldogs maintained an early lead 12-0.

Brodie Croft stepped up for the Storm and impressed as he sent Josh Addo- Carr over the line after a terrific pass.

The Bulldogs were next to capitalise with a try after the Storm made two consecutive errors following a knock on and a penalty, after the Storm spent too long in a tackle on Josh Reynolds.

Sam Kasiano successfully scored the Bulldogs third try in the 39th minute after a rapid pass from Michael Lichaa.

Bulldogs lead at half-time 18-4.

The Melbourne Storm were first to score in the second half with Felise Kaufusi going over as they continued to trail 18-8.

After the Bulldogs executed a terrific set of six they maintained possession after forcing a dropout resulting in back-to- back try.

The Morris twins combined with Brett Morris going over to score the fourth try for the Dogs.

Marcelo Montoya was next to score in the corner after a no look flick pass, which extended the Bulldogs lead 28-8.

Melbourne continued to build pressure throughout the last 15 minutes of the match and scored three consecutive tries.

Nelson Asofa- Solomona, Kenny Bromwich and Curtis Scott the try scorers for the Storm with Joe Stimson converting two of the three tries to close the gap to two points.

The Bulldogs managed to hang on in the final minute of play to defeat the Melbourne Storm 28-24.
