Last Monday, 12 players from the NYC squad attained their First Aid Certificate and completed another module towards their Certificate 3 in Career Orientated Participation in Sport (COPS).

The boys spent the day at Belmore Sports Ground, and under the guidance of Tim Van Dalen from the Australian Vocational Training Academy, were put through various scenarios and case studies where there was a need for first aid to be performed.

The young players learnt the basics of First Aid, how to manage injuries, create splints and slings and also how to perform CPR.

“The day was great. The knowledge I obtained today was very beneficial and something I am happy I have learnt," said Kieran Hayman, a member of the NYC Squad.

"It could come in handy in saving someone’s life, or even for myself when managing small injuries from footy”.

All 12 players passed the First Aid course and are now set to complete their final modules in their Cert 3 in COPS. All participants in the course have now undertaken, and completed, modules in Nutrition, Time Management, Goal Setting and Career Development.
