Kerrod Holland joined the Bulldogs from the Newcastle Knights in 2016, looking for an opportunity to train full-time, but also to be able to utilise the amazing facilities the Bulldogs have at Belmore under Coach Des Hasler.

Twelve months on and the Singleton Greyhound junior still can’t believe the year he has just had.

Holland walked away with the club’s Rookie of the Year, managed to play 14 NRL games and deliver one of the highlights of the year when he slotted home a conversion after the full-time siren in his debut game to give the Bulldogs a two-point win over the Panthers in Round 2.

“I honestly didn’t expect anything,” Holland said. “I was rapped and over the moon to get my first game and one thing led to another. It just goes to show hard work pays off.”

2017 is definitely a year not to miss out on being a Member!

The goal kicking centre will now move into his second year in the NRL, with the departure of Sam Perrett and Curtis Rona. This has provided an opportunity for the 24-year old to secure a wing or centre spot.

“There is a huge opportunity at the club now and there are a couple of young blokes all fighting for those positions,” added Holland. “The competition keeps everyone on their toes, but hopefully I can get one of those spots come round one.”

Having spent the past twelve months understanding what’s required of an NRL player, Holland is well aware of not falling into the trap of second year syndrome. “It just goes back to the hard work that you do week in and week out. It is a trap that I am cautious of and I won’t be falling into.”
