The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have acted on their ongoing commitment to girls sport by confirming their participation in this year's Tarsha Gale Cup.

The Tarsha Gale Cup is a girls under 18’s nine-a-side competition that will be conducted as part of the NSWRL Junior Representative program, in conjunction with the Harold Matthews and SC Ball fixtures.

The competition is named after Tarsha Gale, the first captain of the NSW Women's team, and will run over a nine week period from February to May, 2017.

The Bulldogs will enter a side in this year's competition, with current Jillaroo, Elianna Walton mentoring the players throughout the season.

Bulldogs Chief Executive Raelene Castle saw the initiative as a great step forward for women's rugby league.

"The Bulldogs are extremely supportive of what we think is a great initiative in the development of the women's game within rugby league," Castle said.

"The Tarsha Gale Cup will provide a genuine pathway for female athletes to aspire to wearing the blue and white of the Bulldogs alongside their male counterparts, and we look forward to seeing the competition develop over the next few years."

Trials for the upcoming season will take place on Wednesday 14 December.
