Each year, a number of young rugby league talent look to make the step up from the U/20’s to full-time training and extended NRL squads over the summer in the hope of becoming a first grade player.

In 2017, nine players from the Bulldogs 2016 NYC side will look to take that step.

Local junior D’Rhys Miller who played his junior rugby league for Bankstown Bulls, will join the NRL squad over the summer ahead of the 2017 season following an outstanding 2016.

Miller began the 2016 season as a training trial, but through hard work, dedication and commitment he was rewarded with a contract.

The back rower played 21 games in the NYC and had a stellar season where he performed admirable each week, which resulted in him being named as the Hazem El Masri, Bulldogs 2016 NYC Player of the year.

He scored 10 tries, made 385 tackles, had 218 runs making 2147m with 55 tackle breaks and was a big minute’s player, averaging 77.9 minutes a game.

The opportunity to train full-time over the summer and work alongside the likes of Josh Jackson, Greg Eastwood and the experienced forward pack will help his development and understanding of what it takes to be an elite NRL player.

Miller will join the a number of the young members and new faces to the squad in early November to begin the pre-season.
