The Rugby League Four Nations has been officially launched in Liverpool at Anfield Stadium.

The tournament features host Nation England, World Cup holders Australia, number one ranked team in the world New Zealand and Scotland.

All four captains and coaches were present at Anfield, the iconic venue that is home to English Premier League powerhouse Liverpool FC and the four coaches all had their say on the upcoming tournament.

Mal Meninga - Australian Kangaroos Coach:

The players want to play for Australia and want to play International rugby league. That’s why tournaments like these are really important and being here at Anfield is a bit of carrot for those players who want to play here in a final. It’s about making International rugby league exciting again.

David Kidwell - New Zelaand Kiwis Coach:

I know it’s a sold out stadium at Huddersfield and I know all the Coaches here want to see test football at the pinnacle of rugby league. I know it’s a strong England team and I’m really looking forward to a big crowd and a really great game.

Steve McCormack - Scotland Bravehearts Coach:

We’ve certainly earnt the right to be in this competition. We have built well over the last few major competitions and winning the European Cup to get us in this competition is a reward for all the hard work that everybody has put in.

Wayne Bennett - England Lions Coach:

I like what I see. They’ve got a good attitude. They work hard and they’re well-versed in the skills of the game, particular the guys that play in the Super League. There’s not a great disparity between both groups.

The tournament kicks off this weekend with England battling New Zealand at Huddersfield and Australia facing off with Scotland at Lightstream Stadium, Hull.
