Each year, a number of young rugby league talent look to make the step up from the U/20’s to full-time training and extended NRL squads over the summer in the hope of becoming a first grade player.

In 2017, nine players from the Bulldogs 2016 NYC side will look to take that step.

After joining the club midway through the 2016 season, five-eight Lachlan Lewis will join the NRL squad over the summer and work alongside the likes of Josh Reynolds and Moses Mbye.

The talented number six is the nephew of rugby league Immortal Wally Lewis and was released from the Canberra Raiders earlier in the year to join the Bulldogs.

Lewis, a Souths Logan product joined the club on a two and a half year deal and having previously represented Queensland at under 16s and 18s level, the young half was once again rewarded with a Maroons jersey in 2016 after being selected in the under 20s side that went down to the Blues in the curtain raiser at ANZ Stadium.

The former Raider played 10 games for the Bulldogs in 2016 before a lung injury cut his season short.

With time away from the field, Lewis has been able to treat the injury and be ready for the pre-season in early November.

Away from the footy field, Lewis is studying engineering.

2017 Memberships are now on sale with no changes to 2016 pricing which allowed families to sign up for a full season of Bulldogs games for as little as $300.
