After two wins following the side’s 36-nil defeat to the North Queensland Cowboys in Round 20, the Bulldogs have slotted into the top four following results falling their win on the weekend.
It was an up and down start to the year for the Dogs, but having won six of their last seven matches, hooker Michael Lichaa knows the side can go to another level.
“We can definitely take it up a few more," Lichaa said.
“I think people underestimate teams like the Knights. We dug deep to win, but we can definitely go a lot better.”
The playing group are the first to admit they haven’t been playing their best footy over the past fortnight and while at times it’s hard to pinpoint what needs to improve, it’s important the wins keep coming.
“Our completion needs to improve.
“We’ve come up with some silly errors at times and players who don’t often make mistakes are coming up with them, so we’ve got to cut them out.
“It is one of those areas that it’s hard to put your finger on, but as long as the wins keep coming, then I’ll be happy.”
THERE will be no love lost when they Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs clash with the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at ANZ Stadium.
The Bulldogs host the Manly Sea-Eagles on Thursday night, a side who’s season is on the line and while they’ll be desperate, Lichaa knows the Bulldogs can’t rely on their ability and strike power to get them out of trouble.
“We know we can score points when we need to, but we shouldn’t be letting teams back in the game like we did on the weekend and putting ourselves in those positions.”
Lichaa missed the 2015 finals series due to injury and with only four weeks of the regular season left, the talented dummy-half is driven from the heartache of last year.
“I was upset to miss out on the finals last year and not being able to play in it, but hopefully this year with fingers crossed, I can get out there and give it a crack.”
The number nine also spoke about the rumours surrounding his contract situation at the club.
“I’ve spoken with Des and they’re just rumours.
“I’m feeling comfortable and I’m happy where I am.”
