Former Bulldogs captain Michael Ennis has today announced he will retire from rugby league at the conclusion of the 2016 season.
Ennis joined the Bulldogs in 2009 where he has played 136 of his career matches.
In 2009 he was named the Dally M Hooker of the Year at the conclusion of his first season with the Club while also locking down the NSW Origin hooking berth for four straight games over the course of 2009-10.
Michael took over from Andrew Ryan as Bulldogs Captain in 2012, his fourth season with the Bulldogs.
Michael was a crucial part of the Bulldogs 2012 Minor Premiership showing courage and leadership as he steered the team towards a Grand Final appearance against the Melbourne Storm.
The skipper certainly led from the front in 2013, having played in every game of the season and making over a thousand tackles.
The 2014 season was Michael’s last for the club and after six years at Belmore, with three of those been captain, the number nine will leave the club knowing he has done a fantastic job.
The 2014 season saw Ennis bring up NRL game 200, while also leading the club deep into the finals, but unfortunately for Ennis, he missed the Grand Final through injury which he sustained in the Bulldogs 18-12 win over the Penrith Panthers in the preliminary final.
Ennis joined the Cronulla Sharks at the conclusion of 2014 after six seasons with the Bulldogs, including 136 games and two Grand Final appearances.
