The Bulldogs Holden Cup side have won their fifth match of the season with a convincing 38-22 victory over the Brisbane Broncos at ANZ Stadium.

It was seven tries to four at the end of 80 minutes.

There were a couple of changes to the side but the most notable was the inclusion of Jayden Okunbor who returned from an ankle injury.

It took just two minutes for the pups to open their account with Jack Gibbons crossing for the four-pointer. It was a shift to the right with Gibbons on the overlap and having a clear passage to the line. Adam Keighran had the kicking duties for the night but couldn’t convert from the sideline on this occasion with the scoreboard reading 4-0.

Eight minutes later front rower Lachlan Lee went over under the uprights after running a terrific line. The big forward split the defence and planted the ball down for the try. Keighran converted this time around from in front to extend the lead out to 10-nil.

Just three minutes later it was back rower D’Rhys Miller who was the benefactor of a great piece of play from Keighran. The five-eighth jinked off the left foot and then pushed the ball to Miller who scored. Keighran converted with the score now 16-0.

Interchange forward Mario El Boustani made it four tries in the opening half when he cruised over to score. It was also converted by Keighran, with the half-time score 22-0.

The second half started in similar fashion to the first with Marcelo Montoya going over in the south-east corner. It was some slick movement down the left with Montoya ending up with the ball and slamming it down for the try. Keighran couldn’t convert from out wide with the score staying at 26-nil.

The visitors opened their account through Patrick Carrigan and it was converted by centre Jamayne Isaako with the scoreboard reading 26-6 after 51 minutes.

Chris Cunningham scored the pups sixth try of the afternoon and Keighran smartly converted to extend the lead out to 32-6.

The tries went tit-for-tat soon after but the Broncos closed the match out with two tries in the final four minutes of play to bring a bit of respect to the scoreboard but it was the Bulldogs winning convincingly 38-22.
