For every 'Blairy', 'Sutto', 'Smithy' and 'Gal' there are nicknames scattered throughout the NRL with a much more creative bent to them.

We asked some of the game's biggest names to unveil the most creative pseudonyms at their club.

Sam Thaiday (Broncos)

Josh McGuire has got a thousand nicknames but Jarrod Wallace has just got a new nickname. The boys are calling him 'Tablecloth' now because he is forever on the physio table. He's a tablecloth.

James Tamou (Cowboys)

I like 'Django' (Javid Bowen), like the movie with Jamie Foxx. He likes to think he has a resemblance to Jamie Foxx so I guess that's where it comes from. It's probably a combination of 'Mango' (Matt Bowen) and Javid, but it would coincide with the movie coming out too. I love the movie so that's a good one.

Manaia Cherrington (Wests Tigers)

Josh Addo-Carr; his nickname is 'Fox'. All the boys call him Foxy. There's no real reason, but I guess he's just really fast and sneaks around and stuff like that. He loves it actually. He introduced himself as Fox when he joined the club. Mine's 'Cherro', so just plain and boring. I'd love a flash a nickname but the boys haven't given me one.

Charlie Gubb (Warriors)

Sam Lisone. His nickname is 'Sticks' because he has got really skinny legs and a big upper body which looks pretty funny.

Nathan Friend (Titans)

We've been calling Chris McQueen 'Krispy Kreme' but he's just turned up recently with new number plates that say 'Diz'. I don't know where that comes from but apparently that's what all his mates call him.

Ben Barba (Sharks)

We call Luke Lewis 'Groova'. I don't know exactly where he got it from, but it has to be because he can't dance.

Ben Hunt (Broncos)

Everyone calls Cozza 'Bird' but to be honest I don't know where that comes from. Josh McGuire has got a hundred; Moose, Big Show, Snaggleteeth. He used to have pretty bad teeth and the boys would get into him about it. Corey Oates is 'Brains', that explains itself, and we're calling James Roberts 'Oxford'. Don't know whether it will stick but that's what we're calling him at the moment.

Ava Seumanufagai (Wests Tigers)

One of the funny names we have is for Kyle Lovett. We call him 'Sarge' because of his military haircut. He's had it for ages and it's just stuck.

Curtis Rona (Bulldogs)

I reckon 'Bupa' (James Graham) would have to be up there. I know it comes from the insurance ad but I'm not sure how it applies to him. I've always thought it was because he had maybe two sides to him or that he talks to himself.

Konrad Hurrell (Warriors)

Mine probably, which is 'Big Head'. I have always had it since I was a kid. Manu heard it from my brothers and my mum and now everyone calls me 'Big Head' or 'No Neck'. It's pretty rude of them to say that!
