Bulldogs.com.au sat down with former player John Peek during the year to discuss the club's 80 year anniversary and get his thoughts on his time at the club.
John Peek joined Canterbury in 1972 as a lock forward. John is the father of Adam Peek.
John progressed through the grades to be a regular member of the reserve grade team. He received his opportunity to play first grade against Balmain as a replacement.
In 1973, John started the season in first grade to play every game including the Preliminary Semi-Final against Newtown.
In 1974, John missed only one game and broke Eddie Burns 1947 record for the most tries in a season by a forward with 11 tries. He played in the Grand Final against Easts (Roosters).
In 1975, John captained Canterbury in five matches before being injured to miss the finals.
In 1976, John started the season in first grade but was relegated to reserve grade late in the season for Graeme Hughes.
In 1977, became a regular member of the reserve grade team and in 1978, John joined South Sydney to play 60 games from 1978 to 1981.
In 2004, John was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions.
