New recruit Will Hopoate says the chance to reunite with former coach Des Hasler was a huge influence behind his move to Canterbury.

The talented outside back joins the Bulldogs on a two-year deal from the Parramatta Eels and to be given the opportunity to continue to develop and grow as a footballer under the watchful eye of Hasler, was a deciding factor in his move to Belmore.

“To be under Des again is exciting,” Hopoate said.

“I’ve played with a few of the boys, I’ve been mentored by Des in the past and so there were a number of reasons for why chose to be here. I’m excited for what lies ahead.”

The Origin winger first caught the eye of Hasler back in 2010 when he made his debut for the Manly Sea Eagles before going on and winning a premiership the following year.
