Bulldogs.com.au catches up with Brad Abbey to discuss his move, life at Belmore, the Auckland Nines and what he is focusing on during this year's pre-season.

What do you like to do away from football?

Away from football I like relaxing with friends and family.

What was your first job?

This is my first job!

What are your goals in Rugby League?

My main goals in Rugby league are to play for the Bulldogs in the NRL and to represent New Zealand but most importantly to become a role model for younger players in the future.

What do you love about Rugby League?

I think the thing I love most about rugby league is making new friends and the places you get to travel.

Who has been the biggest influence on your career?

My biggest influence would be my parents and partner; I have a child on the way which also helps inspire me everyday.

What is your earliest league memory?

My earliest memory in Rugby League was representing New Zealand Under 18’s

What is your best moment in league so far?

My best memory in Rugby League was winning the NYC Premiership in 2014.

Best piece of advice you have been given?

Just go hard, don’t give up and give everything your all.

What advice would you give to a young rugby league player?

Never give up on your dream no matter how big or small.

Who is the player you looked up to as a kid and why?

The player I most looked up to as a kid was Billy Slater because he is one of the best fullbacks in the game – his defence is amazing and he does all of the little things so well.

What are your memories of your first NRL game?

Favourite sportsman and why?

I think again it would be Billy Slater because he is one of the best fullbacks in the game and I try to model my game around his.

What can’t you live without?

I can’t live without my family.

What player do you most enjoy playing with/against?

What is on your bucket list?

If you could play another sport, what would it be?

If I were to play another sport it would probably be basketball although I don’t think my height would help

Me much!

If you weren’t playing league, what would you be doing?

If I was not playing league right now I think I would get into property development.

How would you like to be remembered at the end of your career?

I think I would like to be remembered as one of the greatest players to play the game.
