Winger Curtis Rona equalled the club record of 23 tries in a season by a Bulldogs player against the Roosters in the semi-final loss.
The talented Rona left it until the final play of the 38-12 loss to the Roosters to register his 23rd try of the season and equal Nigel Vagana and Ben Barba’s record of most tries in a season by a Bulldogs player.
Vagana scored 23 tries in 2002 and Barba scored 23 in 2011.
The flying Rona who was born in New Zealand, raised in Perth, and spent a brief time at the Cowboys before settling at Belmore has had a wonderful 2015 and his combination with Josh Morris has been a real highlight.
Curtis started the 2015 season just looking to play regular first grade under the watchful eye of Des Hasler and after only managing seven games in 2014, he was able to play 25 of the 26 games for the blue and whites this year.
He went head to head with Eels flyer Semi Radradra throughout 2015 to end the season as the NRL’s top try-scorer, but unfortunately, the Fijian managed to finish the regular season one try ahead of Rona.
There is a lot to like from what we have all seen of Rona throughout 2015 and with a big off-season/pre-season coming up, let’s hope 2016 will deliver more tries and great moments for the 23 year old.
