Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Coach Des Hasler has named Damien Cook at hooker for the match against South Sydney Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium, on Friday night.

Cook comes into the side replacing Michael Lichaa who was yesterday ruled out for the remainder of the season with an ankle injury. Cook will play his first NRL match for the season and his third for the club, after making two appearances in the top flight last season.

Halfback Trent Hodkinson today said that Cook would have no problems making the step up.

“Cooky (Damien) has been in our system for two years now and is in and around our main squad every day, so the step up will be no problem,” Hodkinson said.

“He leads by example in the NSW Cup side, directing the side around and being heavily involved defensively for long minutes. He’ll know what is expected of him out there.”
