After going down to the Dragons in round six, 31-6, lock forward Greg Eastwood doesn’t want to use the loss of key men as an excuse, but rather put his hand up and say he needs to be a player that stands up for the Bulldogs and lead from the front.
The Bulldogs went into the round 6 fixture losing five key players to either injury or suspension and although the side has lost a lot of NRL experience, Eastwood believes the players that stepped in did a fine job, but also acknowledges that the others need to step up and take charge.
“The guys that came in did a great job…it was probably the rest of the team that needs to stand up, including myself,” said Eastwood
Injuries and suspension are a part of the game and although the majority of the players sitting on the sideline are an integral part of the forward pack, it gives others like Lloyd Perrett and Antonio Kaufusi to make the most of their opportunity they have been given.
“I thought Lloyd did a great job…Aiden has been playing well every week…for the others to come in and do a great job, it’s promising signs when we do lose players,” said Eastwood.
