Prize Bulldogs recruit Brett Morris will give the side a more "instinctive" edge in attack this year, according to the man he'll be replacing at fullback in Sam Perrett.
Despite constant speculation about the club's search for a high-profile No.1 last season, Perrett showed his professionalism by helping the Bulldogs reach last year's decider as its custodian.
But now he'll be asked to shift back onto the wing to accommodate their big-name signing, who Perrett says will add more potency to their attack this season.
"Brett's always had that knack of being able to find gaps, make breaks and score tries," he told NRL.com.
"We're positive that he's going to be bringing that towards our team. Hopefully we get a bit more instinctive play going and some line breaks, and more points at the end of the day."
Perrett appeared in 24 of the club's 28 games last year, scoring just three tries. In contrast, Morris crossed 14 times in 18 games for the Dragons on his favoured left flank.
The Bulldogs veteran expressed his confidence in Morris's try-scoring potency at the back, which coupled with the recruitment of talented Sharks hooker Michael Lichaa should help the side towards another premiership push.
"In the past, some of our battles have always been the most epic. The 2010 Grand Final there we were opposing wingers and any game that we've played in... he's a class player," Perrett said.
"He's bringing a lot to the team so it's very exciting to have him on board as well as young Michael Lichaa. He's going to be a real talent.
"And our forward pack in general has just been going great. A few of the boys were awesome enough to have the rep honours last year, and they were well deserved as well. It's looking really positive.
"We've prepared well and we've got a really exciting team coming up for this 2015 season and I reckon we can do some damage."
While admitting that the departure of former skipper Michael Ennis was a loss, the 29-year-old said the entire squad was buoyed by the installation of prop James Graham as captain for 2015.
"It's a big difference [without Ennis]. Mick was amazing – he was an awesome leader and an awesome captain. All the boys loved and respected him, and we still do," he said.
"Obviously he's not in that capacity for us anymore, but it just means that a few of our senior boys have had to step up. And now that James has been called in as captain, everyone's really excited and behind him 100 per cent.
"His dedication, his full-on enthusiasm, and his energy – that's the kind of thing, when you're doing it tough and you need to get that little bit extra, he'll be the one to demand it from us. That's the strength of having him as captain."
