After suffering a horrific ankle injury in week one of the 2014 finals against the Melbourne Storm, back-rower Pat O'Hanlon remains positive about his road to recovery.

O'Hanlon joined the Bullodgs in 2014 from the Parramatta Eels and after playing 12 games for the club, his season was cut short in the first week of the finals against the Melbourne Storm after he sustained a compound fracture and dislocation of the left ankle

The injury required immediate surgery which saw O'Hanlon spend a week in Melbourne before returning to Sydney.

A plate and six screws were inserted into his ankle and after weeks in an ankle boot and being on crutches, O'Hanlon has finally been given the green light to begin rehab on his ankle.

"The ankle is coming along good and it's great to be given the opportunity to finally get it right," said O'Hanlon.

"At the moment it's about getting the range in my ankle and strength in my calf.

"I did fear my carrer may have been over, but the support from the club, friends and family has been amazing," said O'Hanlon.

Playing football seems along way away for young Pat, but he does believe he can get back out on the field.

"If I work hard at my rehab and the process that comes with getting the ankle right, I definetely think I will play again," said O'Hanlon.
