Bulldogs Members and Supporters have just 10 days to cast their vote for Trent Hodkinson to take out the prestigious Ken Stephen Medal at the 2014 NRL One Community Awards which will be held on September 25 at the Carriageworks, Sydney.

The Ken Stephen Medal is the NRL’s highest community accolade. It recognises the efforts of an NRL player, who has not only achieved on the field, but has also committed time off the field to community projects.

After many injuries and uncertain years Trent has committed his stellar 2014 season to young pups doing it tough, writing their name on his kicking tee each game. Trent is an ambassador of the RSPCA and has previously dedicated much of his time to the Bulldogs educational “Party Safe” Program for secondary students, and the overall Bulldogs in the Community Program.

Trent is a most deserving recipient of the Ken Stephen Medal and an outstanding Club man that Bulldogs members and supporters can be very proud of.

In 2014, the public voting period is more important than ever with only four players who poll the most votes being presented to the judging panel as finalists.

The Medal:

Ken Stephen was an administrator who devoted 28 years to the NSWRL in various capacities. He retired shortly before his death in 1988. Since 1988 the Award has honoured the likes of Wayne Pearce, Andrew Ettingshausen, Mark Coyne, Peter Sterling, Hazem El Masri, Nathan Hindmarsh and Andrew Ryan for their contributions to the game and the community.

A player may be nominated by his club for his involvement in charity work, youth development or community support that demonstrates his ability as a community role model. The winner will also have a history of donating their own time to assist community organisations, outside of regular Club commitments as well as shown empathy with the community.
