Hodkinson leads RSPCA Training Session
More than 85,000 people are expected to lace up their runners this Sunday, August 10 for the 43rd annual City 2 Surf fun run. Over $4 million is raised each year for close to 100 charities, one of which is our very own Bulldogs in the Community partner the RSPCA.
To recognise the exceptional fundraising efforts of some of the RSPCA’s top supporters, Bulldogs player and RSPCA ambassador Trent Hodkinson and Bulldogs Head Conditioner Tony Grimaldi put fourteen runners through their paces in preparation for the event.
In a true behind the scenes opportunity the group were given full access to training facilities. The session kicked off with a talk in the theatre room, followed by a warm up on the hallowed turf of Belmore Sports Ground and a training session that test the group to their limits. Despite the brisk winter morning and a light drizzle, smiles were a plenty as the group were put through a replica of the session the team would take part in later that day which included lots of running!
The RSPCA have been partners of the Bulldogs in the Community program for over seven years and with the Yagoona Shelter located in the Bulldogs backyard and our player and staff’s love for animals, you could say it has been a perfect match.
When the chance to become the RSPCA’s newest ambassador opened up, Trent Hodkinson jumped at the opportunity. The owner of a cat and two Staffordshire terriers, Jax and Indie; Trent is passionate about animals and raising awareness for organisations like the RSPCA.
From everyone at the Bulldogs we wish all the best to those taking part in this Sunday’s event!
