The Bulldogs held their annual Women in League Event to recognise the role women play in rugby league as well as promote the role of women as leaders in sport.
The Standup cocktail event was held at Waitako Stadium in Hamilton in the lead up to the Bulldogs round 10 clash with the New ealand Warriors.
The night included the leadership groups from the Bulldogs, Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic and the Auckland Warriors to promote the role of women as leaders in sport.
The round 10 weekend of the NRL season this year celebrates the role of women right across Rugby League - players, administrators, supporters, officials, wives, partners and mums.
For ex Bulldogs Steve Price and current Bulldog Josh Morris, recognising the role women play in our sport is absolutely important.
"Without the women in our lives and in our sport, we wouldn't be where we are today," said Morris
"I think it's great the game does this, because there are so many women in our game now who play a big part across all areas of the game," said Price.
The night also saw the Karen Folkes Award given to honour a lady who has made a significant contribution to the game of rugby league and this year's recipent was Kim Archer, who has dedicated more than 22 years service to the Canterbury Bankstown Rugby League Referres Association.
Kim was chosen as the winner after the Bulldogs issued a call to arms in an effort to find and honour the woman who is making the most contribution to Rugby League in the Canterbury Bankstown district.
"It's an absolute honour to win this award and I can't thank the club enough for what they have done for me," said Archer.
All proceeds from the event will go to Te Whakaruruhau Womens Refuge.
