Bulldogs TV spoke with forward Greg Eastwood ahead of his 150th NRL game this Sunday against the St George Illawarra Dragons at ANZ Stadium.
Eastwood signed for the Brisbane Broncos as a schoolboy, and previously played for the Manurewa Marlins in South Auckland, New Zealand.
Greg was a member of the 2008 World Cup winning New Zealand team, who beat Australia in the 2008 World Cup Final at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane.
He primarily plays at lock forward but he has also played second row, five eighth, centre and Wing.
In the 2007 ANZAC Test Eastwood made his international debut for New Zealand from the bench.
In 2009 Greg was set to join UK side Leeds, however his visa was denied. The Bulldogs signed Greg on a three year deal with the opportunity for Greg to link up with Leeds at the end of 2009 should his visa be accepted.
Just three days after signing with the blue-and-whites, Eastwood was called up for the injured Michael Hodgson, making his debut for the Club off the bench where he managed a four pointer in the 51st minute.
At the end of the 2009 season, Eastwood followed his initial desire to move to England where he played for Leeds in 2010, managing just 12 games in a season hampered by injury.
The man known as Beastwood became homesick and after lengthy negotiations between the Bulldogs and Leeds, a decision was made in favour of a return to the blue-and-whites for the 2011 season.
He was a member of the 2012 Grand Final runners-up team before finishing the 2013 season as a member of the New Zealand World Cup team.
After a tough to start to 2014 with injury and a week in NSW Cup, Eastwood has certainly hit his straps over the past month.
He was this week named in the starting side for the first team this year and on the back of his performance for NZ in the trans-tasman test, continuing to build on his performances of late is a focus.
“It’s great to be rewarded with a starting spot, but I need to continue to focus on my footy and continue to get better,” said Eastwood.
The proud Kiwi will this week bring up game 150, a milestone he is proud of.
“It’s a very proud moment…I was happy to play one first grade game, let alone this many. It’s a moment I will remember,” said Eastwood.
