For the first time and in recognition of the great support the club gets from its members, the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have given those members a chance to vote on the Women in League jersey.
The jersey, will be worn in the Bulldogs Round 10 match against the Warriors at Waikato Stadium, Hamilton, New Zealand on Sunday, 18 May.
And the winner is…. Deep Purple!
It was neck and neck between Baby Blue and Deep Purple, but in the spirit of our recent one-point victories, Purple collected the last few votes to get over the line in front.
Chief Executive Raelene Castle is pleased with the end result.
“We have so many great females that have contributed to our proud club,’ Castle said. “From our staff members, to the mums, wives and girlfriends of our players and staff to our passionate members and fans, and all of the hard-working women that help to run this sport at the grass roots level.
“We want to make a statement with our WIL jersey and we want our members to have a voice and own it.
“We will be distinct in our appearance for the 2014 Women in League round, and we expect these jerseys to be a big hit with our members and supporters.
Women in League round is not about the colour pink. It is about recognising the contribution of females to our game.”
The Bulldogs would like to say thanks to the women who have made the club what it is today.
