Joel Romelo will play his first NSW Cup match for the season this weekend as the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs bolster their forward pack for Sundays clash with Wentworthville at Belmore Sports Ground.

Romelo, whose last match at this level was in the 2011 decider at ANZ Stadium, has been a weekly feature on the Clubs NRL interchange bench thus far this season, deputising for captain Michael Ennis.

Hes been named at hooker for Sundays clash with the Magpies, which kicks off at 3pm at Belmore.

Joel will bring experience and toughness to the side, Bulldogs coach Barry Ward says. Hell add a lot of variety from the hooking spot and coming back hell get a few minutes under his belt as well.

Well be looking for him to bring the attitude and the enthusiasm that hes shown in first grade so far this year and Ive no doubt hell deliver just that.

Also included in Wards side is prop Marty Taupau, who travelled to Melbourne as non-playing reserve with the NRL squad at the weekend, during which the NSW Cup side had the bye.

Ward will be looking for his team to bounce back after their first loss of the season, against Balmain-Ryde Eastwood two Saturdays ago.

Despite the loss the Bulldogs retained top spot on the competition ladder heading into this weekends clash, having pocketed two points for their round seven bye.

Theyll face a Wentworthville side that in recent weeks has featured the likes of NRL regulars Luke Burt, Shane Shackleton, Ryan Morgan, Jordan Atkins and Taulima Tautai, who accounted for the North Sydney Bears 40-22 at the weekend.

Sundays match is also the feature of the NSWRL Live Game Cast, follow along AT http://www.nswrl.com.au/default.aspx?s=game-cast or on Twitter via the #VBNSWCUP hashtag.
