The Peter Lonard Cup
Monday 19 November 2012 12:58 PM
With over 165 golfers all eying the coveted Peter Lonard Cup, competition was fierce at the picturesque Bankstown Golf Course.
So popular is this annual event that two tee times were implemented for this years’ competition. Club legends Barry Ward and Terry Lamb were on course to share some local knowledge of the fairways.
With the morning group having to contend with the elements, the odds were in favour for an afternoon group Champion. However, as the groups slowly made their way into the club house it was evident that the on course refreshments had taken their toll on the afternoon groups.
Some of our NRL stars including Krisnan Inu, Kris Keating and Josh Reynolds showed that their sporting abilities don’t extend onto the fairways, while Michael Ennis seemed to have a little more understanding of the gentlemen’s game.
After 9 hours golf our 2013 winners are:
Third – Brad Bollard and team with a score of 51.75
Second – Bulldogs Junior Rugby League with a score of 51.5
The 2012 Peter Lonard Cup Overall Champion goes to Little Sicily with a score of 50.625. Why not stop in for a meal and congratulate the boys from Little Sicily at 194 Marion Street, Leichardt.
Special mention goes to the boys from Workforce with a score of 79.5 and coming in outright last.
