NYC Match Preview: Bulldogs v Cowboys

Last week seen the Holden Cup side go down to the Dragons 44-22 and after a very good win the week before, it certainly wasn’t the result they were after.
Coach Andy Patmore felt the side did some good things at times, but the mounting errors and the momentum shifts did not help their cause last Friday night.
“We were playing some good footy in patches…a few too many errors…we lost momentum and the Dragons ran away with it,” said Patmore.
Momentum is such an important factor in the game these days and can easily be fixed. It’s about the attention to the little things and the ability to compete for the 80 minutes, it’s about focusing on the job at hand and not zoning in and out of games.
With a road trip this weekend for the Holden Cup side and an opportunity to get back on the winners circle, it sure is one game they will be looking forward to.
“Our road trips haven’t been great this year…it’s a big week for us in terms of footy and travel…certainly looking forward to the warm weather, but more importantly getting away together as a team,” said Patmore.
They are a good side the Cowboys and whether it’s first grade or Holden Cup they always perform well at home. They are one of the most effective defensive teams in the competition and if the side is to get the win, they know they need to match them in this area.
“The Cowboys wrestle really well…we need to work hard and compete in that area…get quick play the balls and complete to keep the ball away from them,” said Patmore.
It’s a great challenge for the young Bulldogs side, but one I know doubt believe they can overcome and get the victory.
