NRL Preview:Bulldogs v Wests Tigers
Thursday 2 May 2013 2:57 PM
After securing our second win for the year, our focus quickly turned to the Tigers. With the short turnaround from last week to this week it gives our boys the opportunity to re-roup and look towards Friday.
Sure it was great to win last weekend, but the boys know there is lots of improvement in us and what we displayed on Sunday is a sign that our footy can only get better from here. It doesn’t matter how you win as long as you get the two points.
We take on a Tigers outfit that are down on troops through injury, but one thing you always get when ever you play the Tigers is a side that are prepared to play some footy and throw the ball around. They may lack experience out there on Friday night, but they sure won’t lack enthusiasm and energy with the group of young players that they will put out onto the field. They still have a number of players in their side who have tasted rep footy, so ain’t going to be a walk in a park, just because there down on troops.
For us it’s about building on the platform we laid last weekend and looking to improve our footy. We showed glimpses of what we can do with the footy, but its about taking charge and taking control of a game through completing your sets, getting into the arm wrestle with a side and getting our fair share of possession. We have the footy in us, we just need to continue to believe in our structures and processes which will enable us to get the result we are after.
The boys welcome back the Englishman James Graham, and what an addition he will be. His ability to play big minutes (mind you he may knock up after not playing for a while), make an impact from the bench, his experience and his contribution to the way we play our footy can only benefit the team.
I can’t wait for Friday! Back at home and after a win, the confidence and moral around the group has certainly lifted after last Sunday and going into this game with that win behind the boys, it will certainly provide plenty of energy and enthusiasm that we can notch our third win of the season against the Tigers.
