Holden Cup Continue Good Trial Form

The Bulldogs Holden Cup side yesterday had a good hit-out against Bundaberg Cup side, the Auburn Warriors, defeating them 46-18 at Belmore Sports Ground.
The match was played in quarters with the Bulldogs leading at every change. At the main break, the young pups went to the sheds with a 24-14 lead.
Coach Andy Patmore was happy with the match and is looking forward to continuing his preparations for round one and the season ahead.
“Our defence was good, we’ve worked on it all summer,” Patmore said. “Our defensive patterns are the most important, especially with the way Des (Hasler) works.
“We scored some tries which was good, we played some open footy. Some of our organisation was great, which is disappointing but we have time to work on that. At times we weren’t as connected and as fluent as I would’ve like but we’ll keep working.
“We wanted to move the ball but in a safe way, there were some big boys out there so we did speak about that, we’ll come up against some big boys this season like the Warriors and so on.
“We’ll settle on a squad of about 25 this week, we’ll cut a few guys and get a few guys back from the NRL squad so the next two weeks we can refine what we do and look at getting our combos right for that round one game.”
The NYC side take on the Dragons this week in their third trial at Belmore Sports Ground, kick-off is at 1.00pm.
