South Western Sydney Region of the Department of Education and Training and the Bulldogs Rugby League Club commenced a pilot leadership project called ‘Talk to A Bulldog’ yesterday afternoon.
The project which involves over 380 student leaders from 20 schools meeting in real time with Brett Kimmorley and Gary Warburton from the Bulldogs via video conference. The video conference technology is an exciting initiative which creates an opportunity to have a large number of students from geographically-remote schools participate ‘face-to-face’ in a personal growth and development opportunity with Bulldogs players.
Stationed at Wattle Grove P.S with Students from Camden P.S the students were connected via the Connected classrooms Technology whereby each of the schools has an electronic whiteboard and camera.
The conference focused on the topic of leadership where Brett and Gary both discussed the role of leadership at the Bulldogs and how leadership has led to the changing fortunes and culture of the club. From this the students were given the opportunity to quiz the players on the characteristics, challenges and skills needed to successfully lead teams.
The conference closed with Brett Kimmorley setting a task for the 380 student leaders to build leadership in other students in their school and come back to tell him about their success in Term 2.
