NRL Casualty Ward: Moses still out; Warriors, Titans hit hard

Eels halfback Mitch Moses will spend another weekend on the sideline while the Titans, Warriors, Panthers and Knights have all suffered blows to their playmaking stocks ahead of Magic Round.

Moses will miss a seventh straight match for the Eels after fracturing his foot in Round 3, meaning he will have just one game before the Blues team is selected for Origin One should he make it back in Round 12.

In better news for Blues coach Michael Maguire, Sharks playmaker Nicho Hynes has been named to return for the clash against the Roosters after missing the win over Melbourne due to calf tightness.

The Roosters will be without centre Joey Manu after the Kiwi international suffered a head knock late in his side's Round 10 win over the Warriors.

Roosters medical staff diagnosed Manu with a Grade One Concussion at full-time, which has seen him commence the NRL's 11-day stand-down protocol.

The Warriors will also be without several stars for their Round 11 clash against the Panthers with Shaun Johnson (pectoral), Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (hamstring) and Rocco Berry (hand) set for several weeks on the sideline.

Johnson suffered a minor pectoral muscle injury in last Sunday’s loss to the Roosters and is expected to miss the next two matches against the Panthers and Dolphins with an estimated return to play date after the club’s Round 13 bye.

Tuivasa-Sheck, meanwhile, isn't expected back until Round 17 after suffering a hamstring injury at training in the lead-up to Round 10.

Fellow centre Berry is also expected to be back after the bye after fracturing his hand in round 10 while back-up hooker Freddy Lussick has entered the concussion protocols after a head knock on Sunday.

The Titans have suffered a significant blow to their halves stocks with AJ Brimson (groin) and Kieran Foran (hamstring) joining Tanah Boyd (wrist) on the sideline with injuries.

Winger Phil Sami (hamstring) and Harley Smith-Shields (pectoral) are also out of the Round 11 team.

In better news for Des Hasler's men, forward Keenan Palasia has been named to return for his first game since suffering a quad injury at training in the lead-up to Round 4.

The Panthers will be without halfback Nathan Cleary for eight weeks due to a grade two hamstring tear whille young prop Liam Henry is also out of Magic Round due to concussion.

The Knights too confirmed Tyson Gamble will undergo surgery after fracturing his foot in Saturday's Round 10 loss to the Wests Tigers.

Broncos hooker Billy Walters is also out for Magic Round after reaggravating a wrist injury but is expected to return in Round 12 while Cowboys winger Semi Valemei will undergo surgery after suffering an ankle injury in his side's loss to the Titans.

Meanwhile, Manly and Blues gun Tom Trbojevic is expected to be unavailable for seven weeks with a hamstring injury while winger Jason Saab is also expected to miss several weeks with an A/C join injury.

With Origin I to be played at Accor Stadium on June 5 and Origin II at the MCG on June 26, Trbojevic is set to be unavailable for the first two matches of the series and may be racing the clock for Origin III at Suncorp Stadium on July 17.

In better news, several sides are set to welcome back their big guns this week with Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Murray Taulagi and Xavier Coates all named to return from hamstring injuries while Brandon Smith is back on deck for the Roosters after missing Round 10 with a calf injury.

The Raiders will also welcome back Jordan Rapana after the veteran fullback suffered a knee injury in Round 5 but Corey Horsburgh is still out with a groin injury.
